The school was founded in March 1939 under the name "Yujing Agricultural Training Institute." In April 1941, it was upgraded to a three-year agricultural school and renamed "Public Specialized Agricultural School." After Taiwan’s retrocession in October 1945, the Tainan County Government took over the school in January 1946 and renamed it "Tainan County Yujing Junior Agricultural School." At that time, many towns in the Yujing area were competing to establish junior high schools. In October 1946, a junior high school was established and affiliated with the junior agricultural school as a branch.
In February 1948, due to the limited number of vocational agriculture classes, the school was placed under Xinhua's jurisdiction, but was still allowed to offer junior high classes, which were administered by the Yujing Branch of Xinhua Junior High School. In August 1949, Mr. Li Boying was appointed by the county as the director of both Xinhua Junior Agricultural School Yujing Branch and Xinhua Junior High School Yujing Branch. The two branches merged, and in August 1950, the school was officially reorganized and renamed "Tainan County Yujing Junior Agricultural Vocational School," with junior high admissions suspended. In April 1951, junior high classes resumed under the Xinhua Junior High School Yujing Division.
In April 1956, local residents, recognizing that graduates of the junior agricultural program were too young to enter the workforce, advocated for the establishment of a five-year agricultural school. A preparatory committee was formed, and after two years of preparation, the five-year program was approved in September 1958 and began recruiting students. In August 1960, the school was upgraded to a full agricultural vocational school and renamed "Tainan County Yujing Agricultural Vocational School." In September 1961, the previously affiliated Xinhua Junior High Yujing Branch became an independent school. In August 1965, the school was approved to re-establish a junior high department.
In August 1968, following the implementation of Taiwan's Nine-Year Compulsory Education Policy, high schools were run by the province and junior high schools by counties and municipalities. The school was reorganized as "Taiwan Provincial Yujing Senior High School," becoming a comprehensive high school under Principal Li Boying, and began admitting senior high students. The five-year agricultural program was phased out and replaced by a three-year vocational agriculture program. The junior high department was transferred to Yujing Junior High School. Principal Li served the school for 22 years, laying a strong foundation and cultivating numerous talents. He retired in February 1973.
Mr. Tseng Daotsun succeeded as principal, promoting a strong academic atmosphere and expanding programs, including the addition of business and industrial departments to meet local needs. In February 1979, the provincial government appointed Mr. Shih Weixia as principal. He was succeeded in August by Mr. Dong Hongzhe, who emphasized holistic student development, campus beautification, and actively planned the school’s reorganization into a vocational business and industrial high school. In August 1981, the school was reorganized as "Taiwan Provincial Yujing Senior Industrial and Commercial Vocational School," offering departments in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Business Management, while the general high school program was discontinued. In August 1984, a night school class in Electronics was established.
In August 1983, Mr. Chou Chin-man was appointed principal. During his tenure, he emphasized teamwork, normalized teaching operations, promoted competency-based education, and established a culture of diligent study. In February 1988, Mr. Pai Bowen became principal, emphasizing student counseling and encouraging research among faculty, while actively promoting extracurricular activities.
In August 1993, Principal Chou Chaosung took office, continuing the school’s development and overseeing the construction of a new teaching and administration building. Principal Tsai Ping-ho took office in August 1996, and the new facility was officially inaugurated in June 1998. In August 1998, Principal Huang Yuantian took office and initiated the comprehensive high school program. From 2001, the number of classes in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Business Management was reduced by one each, and replaced with four classes in the comprehensive high school program: Academic, Culinary, Business Management, and Information Technology.
In 2000, the school came under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education’s Central Office and was renamed "National Yujing Industrial and Commercial Vocational Senior High School."
In August 2002, Principal Yen Wen-tsung, a former teacher at the school and later a director at Tainan Home Economics and Commercial High School, assumed office. During his tenure, due to the declining number of night school students, the evening school was discontinued and replaced with practical skills programs, including Household Appliance Technology, Office Management, and Microcomputer Maintenance.
In 2006, Principal Wang Rong-mu took office and expanded the practical skills curriculum, adding Culinary Technology and Advertising Technology departments, and also established an Advertising Design track within the comprehensive high school. To improve the internship environment, a new comprehensive internship building was constructed and opened in May 2014.
In August 2015, Principal Chen Pei-te took office. His diligent leadership led the school to earn an “Excellent” rating in the 2017 senior high school evaluation. In response to the declining birth rate and to increase local enrollment, the school adopted a completely test-free admission policy. In line with the 2019 national curriculum reform (108 Curriculum Guidelines), he actively pursued related projects and was repeatedly designated by the Ministry of Education as a pilot school for the new curriculum and bilingual education. He also promoted industry-academia cooperation through internship programs.
During his term, several administrators achieved notable advancement: Library Director Wang Yi-ting became principal of Guanshan Industrial and Commercial High School in 2020, and Student Affairs Director Li Chiu-hsien became principal of Guangfu Commercial and Industrial High School in 2021. In August 2022, Principal Hsu Chen-kuei assumed office.
